Fagus sylvatica Purpurea – Purple Beech hedging is a native plant with lovely foliage of purple leaves which turn to a rich copper in Autumn. Purple Beech, like Green Beech, holds its leaves throughout most of the winter. It is not suitable for heavy or wet soil. If Beech is trimmed in late summer, the leaves remain on better in winter. Suitable for normal or chalky soil. Can be mixed in with green beech to add colour and interest.
